On July 31st, the Tourism and Hospitality Association of Guyana (THAG) and the Suriname Hospitality and Tourism Association (SHATA) formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)—a significant milestone in strengthening collaboration between the two nations.

Guyana and Suriname not only share a geographic border but also a deep cultural heritage, enriched by diversity and tied together by our shared Dutch colonial past. This agreement underscores our joint commitment to advancing sustainable tourism development, fostering regional cooperation, and creating opportunities for mutual growth.

The MoU also lays the foundation for broader cross-border initiatives, with both associations envisioning stronger connections towards an integrated and resilient Three Guianas tourism corridor.
